School League Final

We were all delighted to be able to have our annual School Football League this year. The League took place in school during lunch time with the grand finals taking place at Munday’s Field on the 16th June. We are very grateful to our local club Aodh Ruadh for giving us the use of their facilities to host the finals.

The pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th were invited to put their name down for mixed football teams and captains and vice captains from 6th were selected to lead the four teams. The teams battled it out during lunch time games to see which teams would play in the A final and the B final. It was great to see over 80 girls and boys participating. For some of the 4th Class pupils this was their first opportunity to play in organised matches and they very much enjoyed the experience. The captains and vice-captains from 6th Class showed fantastic leadership skills and organised their teams, the jerseys and equipment needed for the matches as well as encouraging the younger players and helping to ensure that everyone enjoyed the games.

It was an honour to have three-time All-Ireland winner Seán Meade there on the night who once again obliged and presented the medals to the pupils. We know he was very proud to present his granddaughter Zara with her medal.

Thank you to the teachers who have organised football in the school during the year and especially those who helped with and refereed the league matches during their lunch breaks. After what has been a very successful footballing year for Creevy we can now look forward to our summer holidays. We hope you will have a lovely summer break and get time to practise all the skills learned over the year.
