6th Class Local Field Trip

7th Oct 2025
Rang a Sé had a brilliant day recently exploring local historical and Religious sites in the locality. We began our tour at the Abbey Assaroe and learned about the Cistercian Monks who came from Boyle in Co Roscommon and built it. We then moved on to St Patrick's Well where many pilgrims come to pray, say the Rosary on the Mass rocks and leave items of rags on the thorn bush. Following this, we experienced Catsby Cave, a secret Mass rock where Mass and other religious ceremonies were held in secret during the Penal times in Ireland. 6th Class then carried out some experiments in the river, before moving on to the Pauper's Graveyard as the final stop on our tour.
A great day was had by all. Maith sibh!
